A golden full moon reflects across a clear blue lake.

A Lifetime To Drown

~Poetry~

With ease, with eloquence
Passionately praise
This earth which I roam

The truth I see clear
No riddle the miracle
I know beyond doubt

Yet a fool I be
To explain that within me
Here the truth do hide

Illusions doth veil
Questions and answers both
I’m Deaf dumb and blind

An endless ocean
Adrift drowning, lost alone
Try to float but flail

The ache for rest burns
The weight of my wearied soul
Pulls me down under

Fall to the abyss
Infinite fathoms below
How deep can I go?

How many lifetimes
I have drowned deep within murk
Enough to lose hope

Yet in that moment
I thought I could bear no more
A light I do see?

How many eternities
Since I’ve seen not but darkness
I cannot now know

This light shines alone
Faint flickering distant yet
unmistakable

I must move forwards
Yet I find atrophy holds
Body made weary

Though I’m desperate
I cannot yet more than crawl
Inching my way home

The abyss holds tight
I am started worn weary
Alas I must move

Lethargy is death
New hope grants just strength enough
To try at least try
