~Poetry~
Light Sleeper
I awake early
Long before the alarm ding
I can’t yet rise up
The eyes of today
Crispy dried raisins peeking
Out squinty boulders
I’m feeling tired
A physical sensation
With deeper roots dug
I could take a nap
Might I get away with it?
Real questions asked
My eyelids heavy
Gravity overcomes strength
Though Sleep eludes me
