Sun setting behind the horizon of the lake.

Evening Out

~Snap Shot~

I circled around the parking lot. It was pretty empty today. The hoards of weekenders had made the great migration back south for the week. They would surely make the journey up north again come Friday. Until then the lake would be relatively quiet.

I pulled my old Volvo in next to an empty boat trailer. The sun had warmed the black canvas of my camera bag, and it was hot when I pulled it on. Locking up the car I headed off towards a seldom known walking trail. You almost had to know where it was to find the entrance buried in the trees. Luckily I knew such secrets.

I entered the sheltered path and followed it upwards. The massive rocks underfoot always caught my attention. Huge solid chunks of stone formed a smooth and stable surface to walk along as the path carved through the woods. The sun had already began to set and the mosquitos were out in full force. Their tiny buzzing sounds circled overhead.

I reached the tree line and the wind greeted me eagerly with a spirited gust. It was pleasant and cool against the heat of the day. It brought with it sounds of waves lapping up against a rocky shoreline. Making my way to wards that sweet music I smiled to myself. Walking up to the lake I splashed my hand into the chilly water.

I breathed in slowly, and very deeply. I sat down and closed my eyes. Another breath, deep, slow and another. The stresses of the day had been melting away. These places always had that effect on me. One more deep breath and then I took the shot.
